STATE & LOCAL TAXES (SALT)

Enterprise Zone

Allows businesses a tax credit for wages paid by providing a onetime tax credit of $2,500* for each net new permanent job created in the first five years for businesses that locate or expand in designated enterprise zones or hire employees living in an enterprise zone.

Restoration Tax Abatement

Program allows a taxpayer who renovates a historic building or building in a historic district to lock in the property tax at the pre-renovation assessment for five to ten years.

Quality Jobs Program

To encourage businesses to locate or expand existing operations in Louisiana, focusing on Louisiana: Vision 2020 clusters, giving a gross payroll rebate of 5 -6% of new jobs, and a sales tax rebate to eligible companies.

Louisiana Motion Picture Incentive Act

A Sales and Use Tax Exclusion, Employment Tax Credit and a Transferable Investor Tax Credit which encourages film and video production in Louisiana, advocates the hiring of Louisiana technical crew and talent and to support and encourage the use of Louisiana equipment and services related to film and video production.

Louisiana Rehabilitation Credit

Administered by the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation, a federal tax credit to encourage the restoration, rehabilitation and renovation of historic buildings in Louisiana, equal to the lesser of 25% of the rehabilitation cost or $250,000.

Industrial Tax Exemption

Five to ten year exemption from Ad Valorem taxes for a manufacturing establishment entering Louisiana or any manufacturing establishment expanding its existing Louisiana facility.
